“Oh no she didn’t just tell me they were out of pumpkin latte!”
I am a huge Starbucks fan and avid travel-cup collector! Sadly, living in Europe, we are limited on what flavors we have compared to back home in the States!
One of my favorite coffee flavors at Starbucks is pumpkin latte! I was so happy when I heard it had come to Germany this year! I will drive a million miles for one of those, and yes, I will pay five euros for it!
There are a few problems here in Europe; one being there are no drive-through Starbucks! Yes, I know, devastatingly sad but true. In order for me to get one of these tasty little cups of heaven, I have to pay to park, get out of the car, walk through town, in the snow, uphill, barefoot, okay not barefoot, but for sure uphill!
A pumpkin latte is worth it! So, I put on my boots, drove to town, parked the car, walked through the sleet thinking the whole time, “You can do this! Think of the reward!” So, I stand in line and finally reach the counter, and guess what? They are no longer serving pumpkin lattes!
WHAT?! It’s only one week after Thanksgiving! This is anarchy! This should be illegal! Where is your manager?! I am on the verge of a total breakdown when the girl behind the counter rolls her eyes and says, “Can I get you something else?” “No, thank you,” I say, and walked right out that door.
I picked myself up, marched right home, got out my laptop, and searched Pinterest. That’s what I did! I’m feeling pretty gangsta right now – “What, girl behind the counter?! No pumpkin latte?! That’s fine!” I swagged to the kitchen, finger wagging, head bobbing, talking to myself about how these people don’t know who they are messing with! What? You talkin’ to me?
I had some ingredients around the house, so I threw it all into the crock pot, mixed it up, sprayed it with whipped cream, threw down some nutmeg, and never again will I pay five euros to walk through the snow to get a latte! WORD to your mother! Oh, wait. I am the mother!
Here is the recipe I used. It is quick, easy, cheap, and my family said it tasted just like Starbucks. So take that, girl behind the counter who was out of pumpkin spice!
Gangsta Pumpkin Latte Recipe:
- Crock pot or pan
- 1 can Libby’s pumpkin pie filling (for my EU friends – americansoda.com or Galleria)
- 1 can condensed sweetened milk (for my EU friends – Machen milk)
- 4 cups of strong brewed coffee
- 4 cups of milk
- Directions – Throw it all in the pot, and don’t let anyone tell you that you cant do this! You deserve it! Pull out your whisk, whip it all together, and let it simmer until warm! Snatch that can of whipped cream out of the fridge, spray it on top, throw some nutmeg down! Oh yes! You have a pumpkin latte, my friend. Enjoy!
