Hi There thank you for stopping by!
I love me a Hugo Cocktail! We lived in Germany for 5 years, and our next door neighbors were the nicest people in the world. They introduced themselves to us by handing a Hugo over the back fence, and we were instantly friends forever. This has become my favorite drink from Germany so I had to learn to make it, now that we are back in the USA.
If you are in Germany, you have to give it a try! If you can’t get to Germany to try it, here is how you can make it at home. Not only can you easily make it at home, you will wow any of your guests with the awesome drink. It can also be poured over ice for a spritzer feel. Let me know what you think!

Ingredients
- 1 oz Elderflower Syrup (holunderblüten)
- 2.5 oz German Sekt (Sparkling Wine)
- .5 oz Sparkling Water
- A handful of Fresh Mint Leaves
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Directions for Hugo Cocktail
- Take a large wine glass, or tall rocks glass, and fill it half way with ice cubes. Add the syrup, sekt, and water to a Cocktail Shaker. Take a handful of mint leaves, and place them in the open palm of your hand. Gently clap your hands together while holding the mint leaves; this releases the flavor and wonderful smell from the leaves. Drop the mint into your glass, pour the sekt and syrup mixture into the glass, and serve. Drink up and enjoy!
Hope you love this Hugo Cocktail as much as I do!
